Completed in 2010 to a high standard, the lodges are well specified with quality fittings, furnishings and spacious bright rooms. Extensive grounds surround the lodges and patio doors open from the living area and master bedroom to a private verandahfacing the loch. All accommodation is on the ground floor and there is wheelchair access but the parking area is gravel surfaced.Guests are welcome to fish on the loch and the owners can arrange fly fishing nearby at extra cost. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and Schiehallion mountain, Loch Tay and scenic Glen Lyon offer many outdoor activities including climbing, hill walking, mountain biking, sailing, water sports, riding, ornithology and botany. | Superbly set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings this delightful log cabin offers stylish and tasteful holiday accommodation. The large pond in the grounds provides the perfect setting for an evening on the veranda. Just a 5 minute drive away is Dunkeld, which offers a good selection of shops including a deli, butchers, green grocers, grocery shop, newsagents, post office, restaurants and a number of specialist boutiques. Dunkeld Cathedral is steeped in history and very picturesque, sitting on the banks of the River Tay. In neighbouring Birnam you will find the Birnam Oak, thought to be 1,000 years old; the Oak now stands with its lower branches resting wearily on crutches. The Beatrix Potter Garden tells the story of the author and her life in the area. The Loch of the Lowes, a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve, is only a 2 min drive from Golden Pond Log Cabin. From the hide at the visitor centre you can watch a breeding pair of Osprey, who take up residence for most of the summer, as well as otters , red squirrels, pine martins and an abundance of wildlife. Golfers are spoilt for choice; Dunkeld has its own 18 hole course and there are courses in Aberfeldy, Crieff, Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, and of course St Andrews and Gleneagles all within an hour's drive. For the outdoor enthusiast there are a great number of walks locally including the well known Hermitage where you can visit Ossian's Cave, named after a hermit, and Ossian's Hall, a folly from which you can admire the waterfall below. For the more adventurous there are a number of Munro's (mountains over 3,000ft) to climb within an hours drive. The area is well known for outdoor activities with a number of local company's offering a wide range of sports including, white water rafting, abseiling, cycling, off road sports and salmon fishing in the famous River Tay ( permits available locally). The fair City of Perth is only a 20 min drive and provides a good selection of shops and restaurants, and is also rich in culture, with its museum, galleries, theatre and concert hall. Golden Pond Log Cabin offers the ideal base for couples, families as well as groups to explore Perthshire and beyond or just relax and escape for a while.Property has electric central heating. |
